Sustainability
Preserving our planet for future generations is a major consideration for our business and the reason that Floradora was created.
Being a “green” business is something that we are both passionate and proud of.
Faux flowers, which consist of an element of plastic may not leap out as an obvious choice for the ecologically aware customer. However.
We started out many moons ago as a wedding florist business that supplied fresh flowers, this business was very successful, usually three weddings each week. However, every Monday morning was a guilt trip to the dump with several black bags stuffed full of cellophane wrap, a pile of cardboard boxes and a huge bin full of floral waste.
The effects of global warming was on the news, my daughter talked about her future on a dying planet, It became impossible to ignore the fact that my business was contributing to the problem.
I did more research on the implications of our own business on the environment. The results were pretty shocking. I looked at the alternative of using faux flowers, and became confident that this was an option that ticked the eco boxes. A product that could be used time and time again over a period of some years before being donated to school projects or retirement homes. Now, I visit the dump once every few months, a small load of cardboard and broken glass.
We are still looking a new ways to shrink our carbon footprint. Our next aim is to be driving electric vans by 2024.
Everything at Floradora is recycled! No water is used, no single use plastics, no cooling.
Our carbon emissions emitted from our flowers journey to the U.K and our deliveries to our customers are offset by our monthly tree planting scheme.
