Behind the Name
Hello from me, Tabitha, I am the creator and owner of Floradora
A career in the wedding industry began as an events manager at a prestigious Surrey wedding venue. We staged 80 weddings every year, each one different from the next. My two most favourite moments of those special days were (1) The Bride’s arrival, seeing THAT dress and sharing the emotional moment before she walked down the aisle. (2) The arrival of the flowers. This is was when the blank canvas that we had carefully prepared was transformed into something magical and unexpected.
Eventually I gave in to my creative whims and enrolled at the prestigious Constance Spry flower school which had trained many of the top London florists that I admired. In 2007, With this training under my belt I started my own wedding flowers business. Florish, as it was, grew quickly and became the recommended florist at many Surrey venues.
After several years a huge decision had to be made.
Whilst I loved the wedding work and thrilled with our success. I could not ignore the number of full bin bags of cellophane and other rubbish that was taken to the dump every Monday morning. The amount of overall waste was excessive and the carbon footprint of the business was considerable. We were definitely not environmentally friendly and it bothered me.
Exploring other options, I finally decided that faux flowers were the way to go, I sourced some amazing suppliers. It was a risk to throw away a thriving business and start again, it takes painstaking years to build trust and a full portfolio, but here I am. The day I took down the Florish website was emotional. I like to think that Floradora is Florish’s eco-friendly little sister with a big personality. She is unafraid and likes to show off a bit!
Creating floral designs for events is a full on and exciting job, I am lucky to work with a team of talented freelance florists who love working with the medium of faux flowers. We hope you love our floral designs as much as we enjoy creating them.
